Responsibilities

Millennium Corporation is hiring a Business Development Analyst to support their Headquarters office in Arlington, VA. 

 

Millennium is a fast-growing firm that is seeking an energetic and dynamic individual capable of providing research and analysis to support the business development team. The successful candidate must have a proven ability to analyze the market to identify addressable opportunities; aptitude to quickly learn new software tools; an understanding of the government contracting process and environment to support the full lifecycle of business development activities; a willingness to take on new challenges and contribute to growing the business.

Description of specific Duties in a typical workday for this position:

  • Conduct market research to support the successful identification of new business development opportunities for Millennium. This requires the analysis of federal market trends, publicly available resources, and industry data to identify new business opportunities of interest to the company within the federal space. 
  • Develop in-depth understanding of the services offered by the company (cybersecurity, SETA Support, information technology, program management, etc.).
  • Develop in-depth understanding of Millennium’s current and target markets and customers (DOD/DISA, Army, Navy, Air Force, DHS).
  • Analyze specific opportunities for their viability to Millennium by distilling relevant information such as contract value, incumbent, level of effort, acquisition strategy, response requirements, and past performance requirements.
  • Work with senior and executive management to brainstorm ideas that lead to individual research products.
  • Analyze emerging and disruptive federal IT trends in the market, budget trends and data available through Exhibit 53, Federal IT Dashboards, and agency forecasts.
  • Analyze specific firms in the context of competitive landscape and/or teaming opportunities for specific opportunities/products and long-term strategic partnerships.
  • Prepare reports and presentations of target acquisitions to include general industry characteristics, as well as identify an acquisition’s strengths and weaknesses.
  • Perform market research using all available tools and analyze data to identify and structure new business relationships.
  • Support proposal development efforts, working with external and internal subject matter resources.
  • Complete ad-hoc research requests and project support tasks to provide valuable information to operations and business development personnel in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Monitor contract vehicles, GovWin, and Sam.beta for opportunities and updates.
  • Reach out to contracting office representatives on behalf of the company to gather information and present findings to leadership as part of Gate Review process.
  • Update Opportunity Management System as needed and provide detailed analysis in the notes section to support decision making in Gate Reviews.
  • Execute pipeline reports as necessary to support the regular and ad-hoc requests of the Director of Business Development and Vice President of Business Development.
  • Identifying shows, conferences, and industry days for Millennium personnel to attend to further the business development efforts of the company.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years’ experience with the Business Development Life Cycle (BDLC) in a federal government contracting environment
  • Superior research, problem solving, and critical analysis skills.
  • Ability to contribute to the development of creative business strategies by offering up unique ideas in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point

Desired Skills: 

  • Experience navigating and distilling information from online sources such as GovWin, FedBizOpps, Federal Procurement Data System, USASpending, GSA Dashboards, GAO/OIG reports, etc.
  • Experience using a CRM or similar system in an opportunity management capacity (e.g. SalesForce, Dynamics, SharePoint).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and/or military/federal information security concepts.

Business Development

Assist with Business Development activities as required to support Millennium's strategic business objectives, which may include but not limited to participation in technical interviews, creation of technical documentation, general proposal writing support and proposal color reviews.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be comfortable with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10-15 pounds at a time
